Festival Wedding at the Secret Barn – Angela and John
- Wedding
Colourful and relaxed festival wedding in the countryside
Angela and John got married last summer at the gorgeous Secret Barn, which is a stunning venue in the Sussex countryside. It was a gorgeous day and the sun shone all day long! Their day had strong Festival vibes which made it fun and laid back.
Getting ready
Angela got ready at her neighbour’s house, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. She then rode a fancy wedding car to get to the ceremony. John got ready with the boys and they travelled to the ceremony together.
The ceremony
The ceremony was a humanist service at the venue grounds. It took place outside and all the decorations had been hand made by Angela. During the ceremony they read their own vows. It was so emotional and so personal. Angela’s sons gave her away together with their adorable dog Hattie and the boys also delivered the rings.
After the ceremony
The reception was in the barn at the venue. They chose Secret Barn because it has so many options and they could totally personalise it. It was a DYI Festival wedding, which showed their personalities perfectly. I love shooting at the Secret Barn weddings because the grounds are just wonderful. The Barn itself is lovely and a blank canvas for couples who are able to personalise it as they please. The girls provide delicious fresh food too!
They had lawn games in the afternoon, and an ice cream bike in the evening. Everyone had so much fun doing the wellie wangling and wheel barrow races, and the children loved the tractor rides. They decorated the venue with lots of colour and wildflowers, because they wanted to keep it simple. There were colourful touches everywhere.
For dinner they had a buffet, which was absolutely delicious. and made and served by the girls at the secret barn, the food was fresh and incredible. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with snacks and drinks and some of the guests camping on site on the lovely bell tents.
One of the funniest part of the day was when we were doing some formal portraits after the wedding, and Hattie decided to lick John’s face.. Hattie had stolen the show at their engagement session and was trying to upstage both bride and groom on their big day as well! Hattie is their absolutely adorable and beautiful dog.
The couple
Angela wore a dress she had designed herself and was made by the lovely Velvet Birdcage in Worthing and John wore a lovely blue suit and they looked so perfect. Angela’s shoes were Irregular choice ad fitted perfectly with the colourful theme throughout and John’s suit matched the boys’
